The New Year 2017 is fast approaching and Georgia’s capital city Tbilisi is preparing to create a festive mood and enjoyable celebration for it's residents and guests.

It's several weeks before New Year’s Eve and Tbilisi City Hall announced some of it's plans of the New Year celebration.

The country's main New Year Tree, which illuminates the buildings in the centre of Tbilisi, will be installed once again, the streets will be decorated and various New Year events will bring the festive spirit into Georgia's capital.

Tbilisians and visitors are invited to ring in the 2017 New Year at a gala concert held at Rose Revolution Square, at the top of Rustaveli Ave.

To create a festive mood in the capital city, Tbilisi City Hall allocated almost 1,5 million GEL (about $577,500/€537,450*) to the occasion, of which 227,000 GEL (about $88,160/€82,050*) will be spent on the New Year gala concert.

The main events to celebrate New Year 2017 will be held at Mother Language Park, which will be decorated as the New Year ‘city’.

This year we have planned different locations to host the New Year celebrations," said Tbilisi Mayor David Narmania. "Roads will not be closed in the capital. Christmas lights will be installed on the airport road, Aghmashenebeli Avenue and Pekini Street,” he said.

The New Year celebration will officially begin from December 25 in Tbilisi.
