Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili says the defence and security cooperation between Georgia and the United States (US) is advancing to a "whole new level”.

Kvirikashvili spoke these words when he met US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence Michael Carpenter in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi this morning.

According to the assessment of both parties, a Memorandum, signed during US Secretary of State John Kerry’s visit to Tbilisi, creates an entirely new frame of partnership in the fields of defence and security,” announced Kvirikashvili’s press office in a statement following the meeting.

The Georgian Prime Minister stressed his Government "highly appreciates the US support in advancing Georgia’s security and defence abilities” and he welcomed deeper cooperation.

Meanwhile Carpenter stressed Georgia played a strong role in protecting world peace and security, and he thanked Kvirikashvili for Georgia's contributions to international peacekeeping missions.
