Georgian tennis players shine at United Arab Emirates tournament

Young Georgian tennis players are making headlines in the tennis world by performing well at a prestigious tournament in the United Arab Emirates.

Four Georgian tennis players participated in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Fujairah Junior Cup, held in the emirate of Fujairah from October 31 to November 5.

Zozya Kardava, who is Georgian but represented Russia, won five matches including the final and was crowned winner of the Girls Singles Main Draw of the tournament.

She defeated Romania's Carmen Roxana Manu in the final match today.

The other Georgian tennis players who took part in the tournament were also praised for being skillful by playing matches on hard surface on outdoor courts.

Another Georgian player competing was Zuka Tkemaladze. He played in the Boys Singles Main Draw of the tournament alongside 31 other tennis players from around the world.

Tkemaladze won his first match against Dennis Moses of Zimbabwe but was defeated by Alvaro Bueno Gil of Spain in the quarter-final.

Other Georgians, Mariam Dalakishvili and Nino Nasibyan were among 32 players in the Girls Main Draw but both exited the tournament after losing to Russia's Ekaterina Vinnik and Ukraine’s Dasha Lopatetskaya respectively in the first round.
