With 32 players in the singles draw, Gorgodze progressed through four fixtures before reaching the final against Mihaylova.

Wins against Lithuania's Paulina Bakaite in the first round and local favourite Ebru Zeynep Yazgan in the second round ensured the Georgian progressed through the play-off rounds.

Two more victories against Ena Kajevic of Croatia and Petia Arshinkova of Bulgaria in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds respectively paved the way for the Georgian to reach the final.

Gorgodze is currently 444th in the Women's Tennis Association singles ranking, with her career-best 255th coming in 2016 when the athlete celebrated winning the Babolat Cup in Antalya.

This year's singles statistics include 23 wins and nine losses for Gorgodze, with the Georgian player also winning the Telavi singles tournament earlier in the year.
