An aspiring Georgian tennis star has made headlines in the tennis world by winning a prestigious tournament in Poland with his doubles partner.
Aleksandre Metreveli, 22, and his Taiwanese doubles partner Hsien-Yin Peng triumphed at the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Poznan Open Challenger in Poland on Saturday.
The two tennis players were paired for the doubles section of the tournament, which started in the west Polish city of Poznan on July 9 and concluded on Sunday.
Held at Tennis Park Olimpia, the ATP Challenger matches were played on a clay surface by 32 singles players and 16 pairs in the doubles section.

Metreveli (ranked world number 189) and Peng (124) were seeded third in the doubles competition. The duo won four games on their way to the trophy.
In the final doubles match on Saturday, Metreveli and Peng faced local favourites Mateusz Kowalczyk (ranked 107) and Kamil Majchrzak (264). After a tough match Metreveli and Peng came out on top with a final score of 6-4, 3-6, 10-8.
With the win Metreveli and his Taiwanese partner jointly won € 2,650 money prize from the ATP Challenger's € 42,500 total prize pool, as well as 90 ATP world ranking points.

Meanwhile the young Georgian player also competed in the singles section of the ATP Challenger but he was eliminated in the first round after losing to Argentina's Agustin Velotti.
The Polish competition featured 53 tennis players from Europe, Asia, South America and North America.
Now Metreveli is working towards his next performance in another ATP Challenger tournament.
The young Georgian will play in the singles and doubles competition in the next ATP Challenger tournament in Recanati, Italy.
