Street in Rome will be named after Tbilisi

A street in the Italian capital Rome will be named after Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia.

This decision was announced after deputy Mayors of the two cities met in Italy today.

The meeting took place between Luca Bergamo, Deputy Mayor of Rome and Giga Nikoleishvili, Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi and Irakli Khutrurauli, head of the Administration of Tbilisi Mayor.

Tbilisi officials are currently in Italy to attend the second edition of Unity in Diversity, the mayors’ summit which gathered mayors from all over the world in Florence.

Climate change, cultural and natural heritage protection, natural and energy resources are the topics mayors will discuss together with high profile international speakers at this year’s edition of the conference. A special focus will be dedicated to endangered cultural and natural heritage in conflict areas, as well.

The summit will be held in Florence from November 2-4 2016.
