During the past 18 months the meteorological station was observing the wind.
The total cost of the project is $34 million USD. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) provided a loan of $24 million for the project.
200 people were employed during the constructions of the wind power plant. Once operational 20 people will be employed.
6 wind turbines (VESTAS V117) were built. The power of one turbine is 3.45 MW. The new wind farm has a total installed capacity of 20.7MW and it is expected to annually generate 88GW of power. Produced energy will be enough for 20,000 subscribers.
All energy will be consumed in Georgia and will fill the deficit in winter. Georgia’s wind power potential reaches two GW. Works on building the additional 300MW [wind power plant] is underway”.
