If you are in Spain this week, you’re in luck because the country is hosting a top European film festival and screening Georgia's bid for the 2017 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
From September 16-24, San Sebastian in Spain's north is hosting the 64th annual San Sebastian Film Festival. The event is regarded as the largest film event in Spain and will showcase 232 films from all over the world.
One of the films on show is Georgian filmmaker Rusudan Glurjidze's award-winning feature House of Others.
Glurjidze's work will screen out of competition on September 18 and 20. It tells the story of two families that survive the destructive Abkhazia war in the early 1990s but struggle to find peace as they set about beginning a new life in houses cleared of their expelled owners.

House of Others claimed the top prize of the East of the West competition section at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic in July.
The Czech festival jury praised Glurjidze's camerawork and vision, which allowed the film to "hold its ground with those of [famed late Soviet director Andrei] Tarkovsky and [Russian filmmaker Andrey] Zvyagintsev, confirming the unprecedented rise of Georgian cinema."
In August, House of Others was selected by cinema professionals in Georgia as the country's entry for the next year's Oscars honours.

Established in 1953, the San Sebastian Film Festival is one of 14 international competitive festivals granted the ‘A’ category by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF).
Over the years the festival has been the scene of significant cinema occasions including the international premiere of Vertigo by famous American filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock and the European premiere of Star Wars.
