About 270 young men pledged their allegiance to their country today and officially were welcomed into the Georgian Armed Forces (GAF).

The conscripts, who have just graduated from the Basic Combat Training (BCT) course, took an oath to serve Georgia in front of the country’s recently appointed Minister of Defence Levan Izoria.

Together with you I also swear to serve my country and the people. It is a great honour for me to make an oath with you. I want to express my respect to your parents and your families who brought up such worthy citizens,” said Izoria.
As Defence Minister I will create all needed conditions to help you best serve our country,” he added.

Chief of General Staff of the GAF, Major-General Vakhtang Kapanadze attended the oath making ceremony and wished the newcomers success in their future military careers.

Meanwhile, the Armed Forces Chaplain Archpriest Aleksandre blessed the 270 new soldiers.

These recruits recently completed the 10-week BCT course.

The BCT trained young recruits in tactics, engineering, medical aid, communication, topography and other areas in preparation for four years’ army service.
