The number of abortions reported in Georgia has slightly decreased since 2012.
Official statistics released today showed the most abortions occurred in women aged 20-44.
Data by Georgia’s Ministry of Health and published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) showed 33,400 abortions were registered in Georgia in 2015.
This was slightly lower than in 2024 when there were 33,500 registered abortions, in 2013 there were 38,000 and in 2012 the rate was 39,200.

The Health Ministry said the increase of data was caused by: 1) improving the emergent medical care system; 2) growth of accessibility to the health services and growth of encounters; 3) expanding of the health insurance system.
