Gov’t gifts new apartments to 42 wounded soldiers

Dozens of Georgian soldiers wounded while fighting to protect the country’s unity have been given keys to new apartments.
Today the Ministry of Defence of Georgia gifted apartments to 42 wounded soldiers.
The apartment complex where the wounded warriors will live has been informally named the ‘military settlement’ in Varketili district in capital Tbilisi.
The Ministry promised its policy of gifting apartments to wounded Georgian soldiers who had shown a high level of merit and bravery while serving their country, would continue.
Looking ahead about 30 more soldiers will receive flats, said the Ministry.
Two wounded soldiers of the Georgian Armed Forces (GAF) are embarking on a new career in the IT industry that allows them to serve their country but in a new capacity that’s far from the battlefield.
The Invictus Games 2016 are coming to an end but already Georgia has won two well-deserved medals at the prestigious competition for injured servicemen and women.
On January 7 the Defence Ministry officials handed flats to the families of 10 Georgian soldiers, eight of them died during various military trainings and studies, and the rest two got injured when protecting Georgian interests.
Georgia's wounded warriors will be provided with the highest quality of mental healthcare offered by the United States (US).
Approximately 180 military servicemen will be provided with apartments in Gori by the end of the year, Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze said at a briefing today.
