EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn visits Georgia this week

The European Union (EU) Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy Johannes Hahn will visit Georgia on July 14-15 to attend the 13th Annual International Conference "Georgia's European Way", held in coastal Batumi.
As well as attending the event that discusses Georgia-EU relations and regional issues, Hahn was scheduled to meet President Giorgi Margvelashvili and representatives from the Georgian Government.
Georgia’s State Ministry on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration announced the conference would gather Georgia’s high ranking officials and delegates from EU and partner nations.
The main topics of this year’s Batumi International Conference will address:
- Georgia–EU relations;
- A discussion about the European Neighbourhood Policy; its future, the lessons learned and key challenges especially in the Eastern Partnership (EaP) Policy segment of the document;
- Implementation of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement, including the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA), and Georgia-EU visa liberalisation;
- The geopolitical situation in the region along with modern security challenges and opportunities;
- Strategic communication and cooperation with civil society.

Georgia is ready and so is the Black Sea coastal town Batumi to welcome hundreds of foreign guests at the 13th annual international conference dedicated to Georgia’s European future.

The European Union (EU) Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy Johannes Hahn says Georgia has fulfilled all requirements for visa-free travel to the Schengen zone and the country "deserved” a quick decision from EU authorities about being granted a visa waiver.
European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, is in Georgia and claims no later than October Georgia can obtain visa-free travel in the EU’s passport-free Schengen Zone.
The European Union will allocate €32 million to support reform implementation and democratic development in Georgia. The money will be spent to bring Georgia closer to EU standards.
Hahn met with Georgia’s State Minister of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Victor Dolidze in Brussels yesterday. Dolidze congratulated the EU Commissioner on becoming an honorary citizen of Tbilisi.
