Hundreds of wine-lovers in China - one of Georgia's largest wine export markets - had the chance to sample Georgian wine at several events this week.
The events included Georgian wine educational courses, Georgian wine tasting at wine shops in four Chinese cities and a Georgian wine and jewellery evening held in capital Beijing, announced the National Wine Agency of Georgia.
This week professionally educated wine tutors and sommeliers offered Georgian wine educational courses for people interested in discovering the rich history and traditions of Georgian wine-making.
One of the most popular wine courses in China provided by the Easy Scent Wine Education showcased six Georgian wines in Beijing. There guests had the opportunity to taste wines of four Georgian wine companies: Bagrationi 1882, Teliani Valley, Telada and Chateau Mukhrani.
Meanwhile, four Chinese cities – Beijing, Ningbo, Shanghai and Tangshan – offered a wine tasting event this week. Georgian wine tasting events were held at different wine shops in these four Chinese cities and hundreds of wine-lovers attended the events.

Another event dedicated to raising the awareness of Georgian wine in China was held in Beijing. Together with Georgian wine companies, guests were able to see the jewellery designed by Chinese designers.
China was one of the major importers of Georgian wine.
This year China moved from fourth to third place as the largest importer of Georgian wine, following Russia and Ukraine
Between January and June 2016 more than 1.9 million bottles of Georgian wine was exported to China, latest figures showed. This was a 148 percent increase than the same time in 2015.
Last year Georgia exported 2,672,154 bottles of wine to China - 122 percent more year-on-year.
