PM says Georgia requires fundamental educational reform

Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikahsvili stated today that Georgia was in need of systemic changes in the education system and named the three directions which should be urgently addressed in the field. 

The PM underscored that the current educational system failed to produce professionals. 

Dynamic researches should be conducted in the country revealing most needy professions not only in economy, in some other directions as well.” 
The state financial resources should be appropriately invested in education, and we should not support unemployment through covering the expenses of unnecessary directions and low level education,” the PM said.  

According to Kvirikashvili the three directions of  education in need of timely  reforming were the following: 

  • Development of vocational education; 
  • General educational reform, meaning maximal raising of quality of education at schools, and; 
  • Providing of top quality high education in Georgia; 

On this note the PM once again highlighted the importance of educated young generation.
