Brussels is hosting a Georgia-NATO Commission meeting for Ambassadors today.

Georgia’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson David Kereselidze said many topics would be discussed at the meeting but particularly Russia’s actions against Georgia’s territorial sovereignty.

The so-called ‘Alliance and Strategic Partnership’ treaty signed between Russia and Georgia’s breakaway Abkhazia region, and a similar agreement to be formed with occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia), will also be heavily discussed, he said.

"In addition, the sides will stress the threat posed by Russia within its aggressive policy. The agenda of the meeting also foresees discussion of the NATO-Georgia substantial package implementation process,” Kereselidze noted.

Georgia’s Foreign Minister Tamar Beruchashvili will attend today’s Commission meeting. While in Brussels she was also scheduled to meet NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

Tomorrow, Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvilki will arrive in Brussels and hold high level meetings with European Union top officials, such as European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, European Council President Donald Tusk and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini.

"We want to once again stress that Georgia continues implementing its European and Euro-Atlantic integration policy based on the strong will of our people,” Kereselidze said.
