Georgia is building an $85 million USD plant with the goal of producing civil aircraft parts for Boeing, Airbus and Bombardier passenger planes.

The project will be jointly implemented by Georgia’s Economy Ministry, state-owned shareholding company the Partnership Fund (PF) and Israeli-based international aerospace company Elbit Cyclone.

Elbit Cyclone believed the new plant will be "very successful”, as there was a strong and growing demand for new planes all over the world. For this reason the company planned to complete the construction works before the deadline. On the other hand the PF has pledged full support to Elbit Cyclone.

The construction of the ‘high tech and modern’ aviation plant began in September this year and was expected to be completed in 2017. The new factory would begin to produce aircraft parts in 2018.

A plant has being built at the Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport territory. When completed, it will employ about 300 locals, who will be trained by specialists from Israel.

It is expected the new facility will produce civil aviation composite parts that have a competitive advantage in the world market, and on-sold to the airline industry. More specifically, it will produce parts like doors, aerodynamic surfaces, and control panels.

The plant will export 100 percent of the produced product.
