Aviation engineers, technicians and operators of a Georgian factory under construction that will produce civil aircraft parts are now in Israel undergoing training.
Six employees are receive instruction in aircraft design, composite parts as well as production processes in the factory of Israeli-based international aerospace company Elbit Cyclone.
The specific training is required in order to achieve precision in engineering, manufacturing and inspection of quality parts. The training program combines theoretical courses on different levels together with practical experience.
The retraining process of the employees will last throughout the year; other specialists will also join these professional training sessions.
Upwards of 80 employees will have been trained and employed by the time the factory begins operations, while 200 Georgian citizens will be employed in total.
The construction of the high-tech and modern aviation plant began in September 2016 and is expected to be completed in 2017. The new factory is expected to begin producing aircraft parts in 2018.
The plant is being built on the premises of the Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport.
It is expected that the new facility will produce civil aviation composite parts that have a competitive advantage in the world market and will be on-sold to the airline industry. More specifically, it will produce parts like doors, aerodynamic surfaces and control panels.
The plant will export 100 percent of the produced product and the clients will be Boeing, Airbus and Bombardier passenger planes.
An $85 million project will be jointly implemented by the state-owned shareholding company the Partnership Fund (PF) and Elbit Cyclone.
