Georgia is looking for ways to deepen cooperation with its partners in China and encourage more Chinese investors into the country.
A Georgian delegation led by Davit Saganelidze, head of the state-owned shareholding company the Partnership Fund, has met officials from Chinese financial institutions to discuss the prospective for future cooperation.
Today and yesterday Saganelidze met management teams of large banks operating in China and introduced them to the role of the Partnership Fund and its importance in Georgia.
The president of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) welcomed Georgia’s initiative to establish financial institutions in the country.
Meanwhile the president of the Export-Import Bank of China said within the past two years Chinese entrepreneurs had started to actively invest in Georgia and the bank would continue to finance and support Chinese investors willing to enter the Georgian market.
At the same time, the general director of China Development Bank also promised to financially support Chinese companies who invested in Georgia’s infrastructural or energy projects.
While in China Saganelidze also met with representatives of several Chinese companies; the most important meeting was with ZTE Corporation – a Chinese multinational telecommunications equipment and systems company that’s headquartered in Shenzhen, China.
The Partnership Fund and ZTE signed a Memorandum of Cooperation after the company announced it was ready to implement innovative technologies in Georgia together with the Partnership Fund.
