Works by contemporary French painters Francois Marie Anthonioz and Mino are going on display at the Tsinandali Aleksandre Chavchavadze Museum in Georgia’s picturesque eastern region of Kakheti on September 19.
A Sorbonne graduate in History of Arts, Anthonioz is a laureate of the Casa Velasquez competition in Madrid and works in Paris, while Mino is an artist focused on combining painting with architecture and has decorated spaces like the French Culture Ministry’s entrance hall.
The two contemporary artists are the latest guests of the historical Tsinandali palace, where famous French personalities Chevalier Gamba, Alexandre Dumas and other distinguished visitors have been welcomed over the years.
As well as the expo of the artists’ works, the one-day event will feature the Georgian Sinfonietta orchestra under the direction of Germany’s Christoph Meier, considered one of the most renowned Baroque violinists worldwide.
The hour-long concert, beginning at 4pm, will feature French Baroque works as well as pieces by various European composers.
The Tsinandali palace is a historical chateau where the notable 19th Century Georgian poet and public figure Aleksandre Chavchavadze lived. The residence was later transformed into a museum and has welcomed visitors to various exhibitions since 1947.
The exhibition of French painters was organised by the Silk Road Group and Silknet together with the French Institute of Georgia.
