The Georgian Red Cross Society (GRCS) is starting an international fundraising campaign for Tbilisi flood victims through the web platform Ammado.

Ammado, initiated by the GRCS, is an online donation platform that offers fundraising and donation services to non-profit groups and companies. Facilitating donations is available in over 75 currencies, 20 payment methods and numerous languages.

"Ammado is the most effective platform for fundraising due to its transparency,” said GRCS president Natia Loladze, while commenting on an earlier use of the online fundraising platform.

"GRCS organised a charity campaign during the week of 8-14 May 2015, the Grocery Basket 2015 with the support of the Hypermarket network Goodwill and Tbilisi City Hall. The campaign supported citizens living below the poverty line with the one-time provision of products. This was the debut of Ammado as a platform for a cause in Georgia. We had a donation box as usual but Ammado contributed to the campaign significantly,” she said.

The flash flood that hit Georgia’s capital city overnight on June 13 resulted in the deaths of 19 people and three are still missing. Several hundred people were left homeless. They have been offered temporary housing and are in need of clothes, medication and items of hygiene.

All donations made through Ammado will be transferred to the GRCS once a month.

Individuals as well as companies who wish to donate to Ammado to support the Tbilisi flood victims should visit the official GRCS website or the agency’s Facebook page. From there users will be directed to the Ammado page set up for this particular cause.
