Georgia’s President is embarking on his first official visit to Armenia.
Over the next two days, President Giorgi Margvelashvili will take part in an official visit Georgia’s neigbouring country to discuss prospects of improving bilateral and regional cooperation between the two nations, the President’s press centre announced.
During his February 27-28 visit, the Georgian leader will meet with Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan and afterwards, the duo will hold a conference for journalists.
Following this, Margvelashvili will attend a working dinner with Sargsyan and the country’s Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
Margvelashvili’s official schedule also includes a meeting with the Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia, Ovik Abramyan.
Georgia’s President will end his official visit by attending a meeting with the Armenian Catholicos-Patriarch Karekin II.
This will be President Margvelashvili's first visit to Armenia since he was elected President last October, where he replaced Mikheil Saakshvili as Georgia’s leader.
