US ambassador to Georgia Richard Norland congratulates Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on his successful speech at the Munich Security Conference.
Surrounded by influential world leaders, Garibashvili revealed this confidence in Georgia when he took centre stage at the MSC on February 1. He said this year would be a very successful year for Georgia and the country would prosper.
Garibashvili praised the country’s recent parliamentary elections and spoke in depth about the difficulties Georgia had faced in its journey to becoming a member of the EU.
Norland said the PM’s speech had been positively received and gained support from European and US leaders.
"We know how great the Georgian people’s expectations are towards the results which will come once the Association Agreement and DCFTA [Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area] are signed,” Norland said. "Signing these agreement will be significantly beneficial for Georgia’s economy and will allow its citizens to freely move within Europe. The Georgian people are waiting for this,” he stated.
The US Ambassador mentioned that American businesses were already represented in the Georgian market and the USA would continue to support Georgia’s future economic development.
"It has been quite a cold January in Georgia whereas economic forecasts are very positive instead. Accordingly, the message that we have to send is that Georgia is open for business.”
