Our involvement in the developments of Ukraine is expressed in humanitarian assistance and political support, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said today.
Garibashvili held a special press-conference in Expo Georgia, where he summarised past year and talked about the future plans of the Government. In addition, the Prime Minister answered the questions of Georgian and international journalists.
When asked about Georgia-Ukrainian relations, Garibashvili denied Georgia’s possible military participation in the Ukrainian crisis.
"Georgian Government, similarly to all European states and the whole world, is not engaging in military operations in Ukraine. Our involvement and solidarity is expressed only with humanitarian assistance and political support towards Ukrainian people,” he said.
"You know that we have sent medicines, and other things and it was only a humanitarian aid,” Garibashvili added.
The Prime Minister also noted that Georgian soldiers participated in other military operations together with their Western partners, such as International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mission in Afghanistan and EU peace-keeping mission in the Central African Republic.
