Westminster University hosts Georgian studies day

A day celebrating the future and youth of Georgia has been held at a prestigious university in London.

A day of Georgian studies was celebrated at Westminster University in London in an event attended by Georgian representatives and students studying in the United Kingdom (UK) as well as local students and guests.

The annual event has been celebrated in London since 1987. It was co-organised by the Georgian Embassy in the UK and aimed to inform the British society about the situation in Georgia.

This time the special topic og the event was The future of Youth in Georgia.

Chief of the Government’s Administration Nino Kobakhidze told the audience about the International Education Centre – the Government’s new educational initiative which aimed to support Georgian students to study abroad in leading universities.

She said education was a priority for the Georgian Government and she spoke about various projects the Government had implemented to support students.

Some of those who attended the meeting were Georgian students who were funded by the International Education Centre.

The Ambassador of Georgia to the UK Rezo Gachechiladze delivered a speech at the event and emphasized the geopolitical situation of his home country. Other event attendees were representatives of non-governmental and educational organisations, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Courtauld Institute representatives and members of Georgia’s Ivane Javakhishvili State University.
