Twenty Georgian students will have the opportunity to travel to China annually and master the Chinese language, experience the Chinese culture and learn other local specialties at Chinese tertiary institutions.

Today Georgia’s Deputy Foreign Minister David Jalagonia and Chinese Ambassador to Georgia Yue Bin signed a document that saw China quadruple the number of scholarships open to Georgian students.

The first agreement between the Georgian and Chinese governments was signed in April 2001, after which five Georgian students visited China per year. Now, the Chinese Government has increased its quota and 20 students will be able to study there.

The project will be carried out within the International Education Center, which is a state institution that grants students scholarships and enables them to study abroad.
