Georgia’s Prime Minister has set a goal to improve the country’s exports, and he shared this goal with other world leaders at an international conference today.

The Georgian leader said he had high hopes for a free trade agreement that will promote Georgian exports abroad.

At the Davos World Economic Forum, Irakli Garibashvili said he hoped the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) agreement with the European Union would help Georgian products and services gain more access to the EU market. It would also direct more investments to the country, he said.

Garibahsvili delivered a speech on the topic "Eurasia: The Next Frontier” at the 44th World Economic Forum in Switzerland. He spoke about the Eurasian region's economic prospects, but delved into the situation in Georgia in particular.

"Since the millennium, after several years of stagnation, Georgian political developments have been dynamic, while its economy has been becoming more and more sustainable,” Garibahsvili said.

"However, the economic growth had been limited to small groups of different sectors and it had less influence on economy in general”.

The PM stressed the latest positive changes in the country. One of them was the initiative to sign the EU Association Agreement, which also included DCFTA.

Looking ahead, the Prime Minister is scheduled to have a busy day today. He is expected to have a meeting with the President of Kazakhstan, followed by live interviews with international broadcasters CNBC, CNN, BBC and Bloomberg.
