The first group of Georgian doctors are preparing to go to Ukraine next week to give additional medical aid to people in need. This is the result of negotiations between Georgian Health Minister Davit Sergeenko and his Ukrainian counterpart.

Georgia suggested it could offer any kind of medical humanitarian aid for Ukraine if necessary, including sending doctors, drugs and medical supplies or offering treatment and rehabilitation to injured Ukrainians in Georgia.

The group of doctors will make a decision about the exact type of help they will offer after visiting Ukraine and discussing the issue with the Ukrainian Health Ministry.

Georgia initially suggested it could help Ukraine in this way in February 2014.
