Batumi Dolphinarium is celebrating the birth of dolphin calf.

The new addition first appeared at the Batumi Dolphinarium on April 13 but the administration of Dolphinarium officially announced the news ten days later, according to the international working norms and rules of Dolphinariums and Zoos.

A female dolphin named "Tsitsi” and male dolphin Kako are the new parents.

She is the third newborn calf in the history of Batumi Dolphinarium.

The newborn dolphin calf has not been named yet.

The baby dolphin measured 70-80 centimeters in length and weighed about 12 kilograms.

The calf's mother will teach her newborn how to adapt to the environment, Batumi Dolphinarium representatives said.

The family are  "all feeling fine and healthy”, Dolpinarium administration said.

"Tsitsi is a very caring mother. She spent the whole time looking after her baby, but periodically the same time, another watershed resident Maya is helping her to care for the newborn”, the Dolphinarium press office announced.

To avoid noise and discomfort for the newborn and her mother, administration staff made some changes in the dolphin show programme.

Meanwhile, a mature dolphin will usually only have one calf every three to six years.
