Government granted apartments to internally displaced persons

The internally displaced persons, who haven't own flats, live in terrible conditions.

The Municipal Development Fund and the Ministry of Refugees and Accommodation of Georgia granted apartments to the 24 internally displaced families in Marneuli, Southern Georgia.

The project was conducted by the Municipal Development Fund with the support of the international organization USAID, which invested more than 8 million GEL in the rehabilitation of the kinder garden into apartments.

"After the rehabilitation, the kinder garden became a residential area for the 24 IDP families from Abkhazia and Samachablo. Since last year we have granted more than 900 apartments to IDP families. said the Minister of Refugees and Accommodation, Davit Darakhvelidze.

The apartments have private bathroom, kitchen, with all equipment and heater system. The building also has garages and a playing ground with a merry-go-round for kids.

In the frameworks of the project, there will be ten building completed, with more than 300 apartments for internally displaced people. The USAID granted about 12 million GEL for this project.
