Georgian chess players Anastasia Kirtadze and Luka Kiladze have won the U15 World School Chess Championships, the Georgian Chess Federation said on Saturday.
Kirtadze, who is coached by international grandmaster Giga Quparadze, scored 7.5 points out of nine and convincingly won the championship, becoming the first Georgian chess player to win the World Youth Championship after a 12-year break.
After 21 years, Luka Kiladze also became the first young male chess player from Georgia to win the Youth Championship, scoring 7 out of 9 points. Kiladze is coached by international grandmasters Zurab Sturua and Davit Zarkua.
