Georgian freestyle wrestler Givi Matcharashvili on Tuesday claimed gold at the European Wrestling Championships in Zagreb.
Matcharashvili won the title in the 97 kg category with a 4:3 victory over Azerbaijan’s Magomedkhan Magomedov.
Edemi Bolkvadze, another Georgian athlete, defeated his Romanian rival Stefan Coman and earned a bronze medal in the 65 kg category at the Championships.
In the 57 kg section, Robert Dingashvili conceded his match for the bronze against Georgi Vangelov of Bulgaria with a score 0:1.
Four Georgian athletes - Geno Petriashvili in the 125 kg category, Shota Phartenadze in the 61 kg section, Avtandil Kentchadze in the 74 kg division and Miriani Maisuradze in the 92 kg group - will compete in today’s programme, before the competition closes on Sunday.
