The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), with support from the European Union, trained over 50 Georgian juvenile justice professionals on children’s rights, the EU Delegation to Georgia said on Friday.
Employees of the National Probation Agency and Non-custodial Penalties were introduced to legal and psychological aspects of juvenile justice, as well as the impact of violence on child development and international standards.
The four-day training programme, organised in partnership with the Training Centre of Justice of Georgia, was part of the EU and UNICEF joint initiative to increase skills and knowledge among the juvenile justice professionals.
UNICEF and the EU launched a three-year joint project to support protection of children’s rights in Georgia in 2020.
Financed by the EU, the total budget of the initiative exceeds €2 million.
