A center for psychological and social services for children who have been victims of violence will be created in Georgia and will serve children living in the capital city of Tbilisi and the country's third largest city of Kutaisi.

Head of the human rights secretariat at the administration of the Government of Georgia Ana Buchukuri said that the purpose of the center's service is to provide psychological and social support to the child victims of violence.

The center for psychological and social assistance to child victims of violence is based on a model that has been implemented in the Nordic countries and that attempts to meet children’s needs by offering multiple services in child-friendly premises and ‘under one roof’ — the Nordic Barnahus model. The Barnahus model represents multi-disciplinary approaches to child victims of abuse with the double aim of facilitating the legal process and ensuring that the child receives necessary support and treatment", she said.

The project is being implemented with the support of UNICEF.
