The Georgian Prosecutor General’s Office on Friday said it had charged one individual with attempted murder and sexual coercion as well as illegal purchase, storage and carrying of an explosive device in southern Georgia’s Akhalkalaki municipality.
The office said the offender had initially attempted to coerce sex from his victim by threatening her with a release of her personal information.
Following several refusals from the victim, the offender concealed an explosive device in a package of sweets and beverages, leaving the package at the entrance to the victim’s house on Tuesday.
The explosive detonated as the target opened the bag, damaging her flat. The state body noted no injury to the victim in the incident.
Arrested following the act, the offender is facing 16 to 20 years in prison.
