Georgia appoints new ambassador to Mexico

Former ruling Georgian Dream party member Zaza Gabunia has become the country’s new ambassador to Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

Gabunia announced his new position yesterday:

Earlier in 2016-2020 Zaza Gabunia, who was the member of the 9th convocation of the parliament, chaired the regional politics committee.

He was also the majoritarian MP for Nadzaladevi district in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi. Prior to that in 2014-2016 he was the governor of Nadzaladevi district,

In 2010 local self-government elections Gabunia was elected Tbilisi City Council (Sakrebulo) member from Christian-Democratic party and served deputy chair of Sakrebulo’s human rights committee.

Later in 2013 he became the chair of Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia faction.
