Natalie Beridze among Resident Advisor's ‘15 Artists From The Former USSR You Need To Hear’

Experimental music producer Natalie Beridze, a prominent figure of the country's scene, has been named among 15 must-know artists from the former Soviet states by Resident Advisor, a leading online platform of electronic and experimental sound.
Beridze, who teaches at Tbilisi's Creative Education Studio and produces many of the works shaping the local experimental scene, has been selected in the list compiled to highlight the diversity and quality of the artistic creation in the former Soviet space.
Devised by Mariia Ustimenko for the publication, the selection aims to highlight individual contributions to the global scene from nations often vaguely associated with the general 'Soviet' tag and puts spotlight on the artists who "aren't just envisioning the future, they are helping to create the one they want to see".

Picked for the list alongside creatives such as Jaroška, a producer and promoted from Lithuania, and Aisha of Kazakhstan, Beridze is widely perceived as the pioneering female artists of experimental and electronic sound in Georgia.
Along with artists like Nika Machaidze, her work helped the Georgian scene emerge after the turbulent 1990s to shape its own identity for the underground musical scene but also non-dancefloor productions.
Last year Beridze was featured in Sleepers, Poets, Scientists, a release of tracks by nine composers graduating from the CES. The release was highlighted by The Calvert Journal, a publication dedicated to cultural diversity and points of interest in the former Soviet region, as a "delightfully profound compilation of female Georgian composers”.
Beridze's work was also part of DE - Sounds from Georgia, a release of tracks by Georgian producers that introduced them to an audience at Berlin's Silent Green Kulturquartier venue in 2017.
The Georgian musician has also frequented experimental music events such as the SOU Festival in Tbilisi.
