Three hundred smart cameras will be installed over bus lines and bicycle tracks in Tbilisi to record violations and control the speed of vehicles.
Tbilisi Mayor’s Office says that they are working with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia to announce a tender for the purchase of the cameras.
Streets which will be renovated this year will have such cameras, for instance Khizanishvili, Vekua [in the outskirts] and Kandelaki [downtown] streets of Tbilisi,” Mamuka Mumladze form the City Hall stated.
He said that the cameras are being installed on the Shartava and Kostava streets, Robakidze square and Baratashvili Rise in central Tbilisi.
Mumladze stated that a special light signal was installed on Saakadze Square in central Tbilisi, which allows busses to move first.
Such light signals will be installed on the Chavchavadze Square and Kandelaki Street,” Mumladze said.
As of now 19 smart cameras are installed in Tbilisi to control bicycle tracks and bus lines.
