Driving licence exams switch to two-stage format in Georgia

Those applying for driving licences in Georgia will pass a two-stage practical part of the test starting today, the Service Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced.

The Service Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is fulfilling its obligations under the Association Agreement with the European Union.In accordance with the amendments to the Law of Georgia on Road Traffic, the practical part of the "B" and "BE" category driving test will become two-stage", reads an official statement of MIA.

The Agency said the first stage of the practical test - which follows a theoretical examination - would be held at its driving licence testing centres, with the second stage passed in actual traffic conditions.

Applicants have a right to enter the second stage of the practical test within 365 days after successfully passing the first part of the exam.
