Patrol Police in Georgia will be equipped with portable plate number detectors in order to identify high-risk drivers, Deputy Interior Minister Nino Javakhadze told Imedi TV.

This is a practice approved in many developed countries,” she stated.

The portable devices will be installed on the patrol police cars and detect other vehicles’ plate numbers when moving. This is how high-risk drivers will be identified.

A new application enabling citizens to shoot road accident photos and videos will also be established. Photo: Interior Ministry press office.

By means of the detectors the police will be able to check whether the driver of the car has had their license suspended or observed in traffic violations.

Nino Javakhadze also said the Interior Ministry plans to establish an application that will enable any citizen who will witness a road accident to shoot videos and photos and upload them by means of the app.

The application is called ‘Crime Stopper’.

Deputy Interior Minister Nino Javakhadze said this initiative will be carried out this year.
