220 new buses to appear in Tbilisi

New Isuzu eight-meter length buses will appear this year in Tbilisi, Mayor Kakha Kaladze said at the Tbilisi government session today.
He said the new 220 buses will be equipped with modern systems such as heating, air conditioning, ventilation, USB ports and Wi-Fi.
Kaladze said the new buses will replace the old yellow ones that ‘represent a serious problem and discomfort for passengers and pollute the air.’
Shortly we will also present 10-meter buses that will serve the Tbilisi population,” Kaladze also added.

He said the buses consume Euro 6 Diesel and will abide by the standards set by European cities.
Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze stated that the diesel quality in Georgia should increase to Euro 5 standard and the decision will be made with the central government.
As we plan to present the buses consuming Euro 6 Diesel, we should be all prepared,” Kaladze said.
He added that the Georgian government will supervise fuel quality.
Municipal buses in Tbilisi will soon also have female drivers. Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said at a city hall session today that 21 women have been trained and received category D driver’s licenses.
Three hundred smart cameras will be installed over bus lines and bicycle tracks in Tbilisi to record violations and control the speed of vehicles.

Georgia’s capital Tbilisi is continuing to modernise its public bus fleet by introducing 90 brand new, 10-meter long diesel operated buses.
Six Georgian towns — Kutaisi, Gori, Telavi, Zugdidi, Rustavi and Poti — will receive 100 new modern diesel (Euro 5) buses. The buses will be given to the towns as part of the Urban Transport Enhancement Programme of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
50 modern buses which were supposed to be delivered in Tbilisi by May and June 2019, will appear in the city by the end of September, announces Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze.
