Okatse Canyon open for visitors after renovation

Okatse Canyon, located in the Khoni Municipality of the Imereti region, is now open for visitors after it underwent renovation work.
Visits to the canyon will be much safer as a result.
Renovation work included:
- Renewal of the cover of the hanging path and overlook platform;
- Installation of a transparent floor for more extreme adventures;
- Replacement of the protecting side ropes with rustproof ones;
- Replacement of the wood construction of 13 bridges heading to the overlook point with metal.
A total of 120,328 GEL (about $44,898/€39,529) was spent on the work.
Approximately 258,000 people visited the canyon since its opening in 2014. More than 70 locals were employed and six guesthouses opened with five shops and eight eating establishments.
A zip line zone will be arranged in Martvili Canyon and in the village of Kinchkha, which is located near the Okatse waterfall, in western Georgia.
