Government plans to conduct urban renovation project in Mestia, Ushguli

An urban renovation project in the town of Mestia and villages of Ushguli will be launched this year in the Svaneti region of Georgia.

The Lagami quarter of the town of Mestia will be renovated throughout the project.

Towers and roads will be renovated, a lighting system and parking lot will also be installed.

The Municipal Development Fund of Georgia will carry out the work.

Svaneti is a mountainous region in the northwestern part of Georgia. It is the highest inhabited area in the Caucasus and attracts thousands of tourists with its winter and summer resorts.

The government of Georgia also plans to renovate other historic parts of the country.

A historic project will also be carried out in the city of Kutaisi as 41 houses along Rioni River will be renovated in 2020.

The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia has also launched the renovation of the historic quarter of Dusheti the Municipal Development Fund and sponsorship by the World Bank.

Yesterday, a newly-renovated folklore theatre opened in Mestia, Svaneti. The renovation work was conducted by the Municipal Development Fund with the World Bank sponsorship.
