The Ministry of Justice of Georgia has opened the 63th community centre in the village of Udabno, at the Georgia-Azerbaijan border, to make up to 200 public and private sector services available to the local population.

The Georgian government believes that the centre will play its positive role for tourism, as the village is next to the David Gareji monastery complex, one of the most attractive destinations for visitors.

Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze, who attended the opening ceremony of the community centre earlier today, stated that the government takes steps to provide equal opportunities for all Georgian citizens living both in the towns and regions.

It is the priority for the Georgian government to encourage the equal development of all Georgian regions, provide opportunities for the youth and support the economic development,” Bakhtadze said.

He stated that the youth will be able to use free Internet and a modern library in the community centre.

As banks are presented in the centre, pensioners will be able to receive pensions without living the village,” Bakhtadze stated.

He said that the village has a huge tourist potential and vowed that the government will carry out infrastructural and other works to help the use of the potential.

The village in the Sagarejo municipality of the eastern Kakheti region is mainly inhabited by ethnic minorities and eco-migrants.

It is the 12th community centre which has been opened in the Kakheti region.

Bakhtadze stated that a Tkibuli community centre will open in the coming months in western Georgia, which will be the 64th community centre around the county.

The community centre offers services like receiving identification documents, registering property, getting biographical data from the archives and similar activities.
