A Tbilisi court has sentenced a drug dealer identified only as V. Zh. and arrested in the May 2018 raid of Gallery nightclub to eight years in prison for the sale, purchase and distribution of drugs in large quantities.
Two night clubs were raided on 12 May 2018, which was followed by large protest rallies.
An investigation showed that V. Zh. purchased 54 pills of MDMA and sold two for 200 GEL on 31 March 2018 at Gallery night club in Tbilisi.
He sold another two pills for the same price on 15 April.
When V. Zh. was detained in May, he had 50 pills of MDMA on him.
Eight were arrested for drug dealing during the raids on Bassiani and Gallery.
The raids were conducted after five people died from drug poisoning in previous weeks.
Tbilisi City Court has sent two individuals to prison for the sale of drugs in large quantities at Tbilisi night clubs and other areas.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia says that 98 individuals have been charged for drug crimes over the past seven months.
