Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze and a Georgian delegation have arrived in Davos, Switzerland today in order to participate in the World Economic Forum’s 49th session.
Davos, a Swiss ski resort, is home to the annual World Economic Forum meeting. This year the four-day event will begin on 22 January. Bakhtadze shared his expectations via his official Twitter account:
The world's top industry leaders and over 50 heads of state and governments gather in sub-zero temperatures at the World Economic Forum's annual conference to discuss challenges facing the global economy and the way forward. The senior councilor of the Embassy of Georgia to the Switzerland Ilia Marjanidze posted on Twitter that Georgia is ready for the big event:
The Georgian PM’s visit involves meetings and negotiations with business leaders and executives of the world's largest companies.
We will meet with several companies actively considering and planning to invest in Georgia. Negotiations will be held with companies that are considering establishing international offices in Georgia”, said Bakhtadze.
Bakhtadze added that international companies that open regional offices in Georgia will enjoy tax benefits and this law will come into play “in the second half of 2019”.
In addition, we will have meetings with political leaders to discuss the Georgian government's initiatives, especially those pertaining to European integration. I believe this visit will be very important, interesting, and, I hope, productive”, said Bakhtadze.
Today’s schedule includes meetings with Damen Group, Yuexiu Enterprises Group, China Minsheng Investment Group, COSCO Shipping Corporation, MFA of Swiss Confederation, Minister of International Trade of Canada.
Last year Georgia’s former Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili met with a number of world leaders and high officials from global leading companies in Davos.
Kvirikashvili met with large Indian companies and with United States company Hillwood.
He also held political meetings with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and with Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sapar Isakov with whom the PM discussed traditional friendly relations and the importance of strengthening economic relations.
Kvirikashvili delivered a speech at the panel "Strategic Outlook - Eurasia”, which was held within the World Economic Forum.
