Georgia’s wheelchair fencers emerged from last weekend’s World Cup in Montreal, Canada with seven medals and second spot for the country at the tournament.

The three-day event saw Irma Khetsuriani, Nina Tibilashvili and Gvantsa Zadishvili claim a notable haul of medals for their ongoing competition season.

Khetsuriani was first in the sabre discipline on Sunday, before Tibilashvili was awarded silver the same day.

The two leading athletes of the Georgian team, medal-winners from World Cup events earlier this year, also scored other medal-winning results before the concluding day of the tournament.

Their two bronze medals in foil category came on Saturday and followed a team round where the three female fencers from Georgia took second place for the country behind Hungary.
