Georgian female fencers have won gold, bronze and silver at the Wheelchair Fencing World Cup in Eger, Hungary.
Georgia’s World Cup-winning wheelchair fencer Irma Khetsuriani received gold in the Sabre B category and silver in Foil B category at the competition.
Khetsuriani is Georgia’s first female wheelchair fencer. She was left wheelchair-bound after suffering from a spinal disease but found her calling when Georgia’s Paralympic Committee suggested she try wheelchair fencing.

Nina Tibilashvili, another member of the Georgian team and a World Cup gold medallist ended with bronze in the Sabre A category.
For their accomplishments in 2017, Khetsuriani was named as the best female fencer (sabre), while Tibilashvili the best female fencer (sabre and foil) among women under 23.
The next world cup championship will be held in March in Italy.
