Georgian regions adapting to growing tourist influx

Georgia is currently experiencing a building boom of new hotels and guesthouses, which is providing new beds for the growing number of tourists and guests.

There are 17,956 beds available in Georgia’s capital city of Tbilisi, shows the latest data from the Georgian National Tourism Administration.

Here are the number of beds for tourists in Georgia by region:

  • Adjara – 12,126 beds
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti – 9,750 beds
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 5,290 beds
  • Samegerlo-Zemo Svaneti – 5,227 beds
  • Imereti – 4,952 beds
  • Guria - 4,564 beds
  • Kakheti – 3,614 beds
  • Racha-Lechkhumi, Kvemo Svaneti – 1,423 beds
  • Kvemo Kartli – 554 beds
  • Shida Kartli – 485 beds

2017’s tourist numbers reached a record high of 7,555, 936 travellers, which is 18.8 percent more compared to 2016.

In order to improve services in the hospitality sector of Georgia, people involved in this sector are undergoing constant trainings. Georgia’s Ministry of Economy announced that 100 employees of hotels and guesthouses have been trained recently.
