Georgia hosts 25% more tourists in April 2018

The number of international travellers visiting Georgia is increasing year-on-year, show the latest data from the Georgian National Tourism Administration.
A total of 596,703 international travellers visited Georgia in April 2018 of which 278,032 were tourists, show the statistics.
Year-on-year, the number of international travellers (tourists, transit, other) increased by 16.8 percent, while the number of tourists (individuals that spend more than 24 hours in the country) increased by 24.9 percent.
The countries from where the largest number of visitors came to Georgia in April 2018 were:
- Azerbaijan – 10.4 percent increase
- Russia – 43.4 percent increase
- Turkey – 29.2 percent increase
- Armenia – 6.9 percent decrease
- Iran – 98.5 percent increase
From European Union countries:
- Estonia – 83 percent increase
- Latvia – 82.6 percent increase
- Poland – 37.3 percent increase
- United Kingdom – 33.6 percent increase
- The Netherlands – 29.1 percent increase
- France – 24.7 percent increase
The countries with the most significant increase were:
- Iran – 98.5 percent increase
- Kuwait - 80.9 percent increase
- China – 62 percent increase
- Russia – 43.4 percent increase
- Israel – 28 percent increase
In the first four months of 2018, Georgia hosted 2,060,264 international visitors (15.9 percent increase) and 937,370 tourists (27.2 percent increase).
A total of 578,514 international travellers visited Georgia in March 2018 of which 292,017 were tourists, says the Georgian National Tourism Administration. Year-on-year, the number of international travellers increased by 13.2 percent, while the number of tourists increased by 33 percent.
Georgia is currently experiencing a building boom of new hotels and guesthouses, which is providing new beds for the growing number of tourists and guests.
Over 8 million international visitors will arrive in Georgia in 2018, believes Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili. While summing up the results of 2017 at the newly opened Moxy Hotel in Tbilisi, the PM stated that tourism has become an important locomotive of the country's economy.
A total of 440,806 international travellers visited Georgia in February 2018 of which 177,845 were tourists, says the Georgian National Tourism Administration.
Month-on-month, the number of international travellers (tourists, transit, other) increased by 19.8 percent, while the number of tourists (individuals that spend more than 24 hours in the country) increased by 27.1 percent.

Georgia hosted 3,561,961 international travellers in January-June 2018 of which 1,933,774 were tourists, says the Georgian National Tourism Administration.
Over one million international travellers (1,039,027) visited Georgia in July 2018 of which 564,977 were tourists, says the Georgian National Tourism Administration. Year-on-year, the number of international travellers increased by 10.5 percent, while the number of tourists increased by 15 percent.

Holiday, leisure and recreation are the most common reasons for international travellers to travel to Georgia, while the next main purpose of the visit is visiting friends and relatives, show the latest data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
The summer tourist season in Georgia saw some 3,061,338 international visitors, showing an increase of 10.9 per cent compared to June-August 2017, announces Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA).
Georgia has taken the fourth position as the world’s most fast-growing tourism destinations in the World Tourism Organisation’s (UNWTO) 2017 report. The report reads that in 2017 the number of tourists particularly increased for trips to Egypt, Togo, Vietnam and Georgia.
