Georgia hosts 25% more tourists in April 2018

The number of international travellers visiting Georgia is increasing year-on-year, show the latest data from the Georgian National Tourism Administration.

A total of 596,703 international travellers visited Georgia in April 2018 of which 278,032 were tourists, show the statistics.

Year-on-year, the number of international travellers (tourists, transit, other) increased by 16.8 percent, while the number of tourists (individuals that spend more than 24 hours in the country) increased by 24.9 percent.

The countries from where the largest number of visitors came to Georgia in April 2018 were:

  • Azerbaijan – 10.4 percent increase
  • Russia – 43.4 percent increase
  • Turkey – 29.2 percent increase
  • Armenia – 6.9 percent decrease
  • Iran – 98.5 percent increase

From European Union countries:

  • Estonia – 83 percent increase
  • Latvia – 82.6 percent increase
  • Poland – 37.3 percent increase
  • United Kingdom – 33.6 percent increase
  • The Netherlands – 29.1 percent increase
  • France – 24.7 percent increase

The countries with the most significant increase were:

  • Iran – 98.5 percent increase
  • Kuwait - 80.9 percent increase
  • China – 62 percent increase
  • Russia – 43.4 percent increase
  • Israel – 28 percent increase

In the first four months of 2018, Georgia hosted 2,060,264 international visitors (15.9 percent increase) and 937,370 tourists (27.2 percent increase).
