Georgian airports serve over 4m passengers in 2017

Georgia’s three international airports served 4,073,959 passengers in 2017, which is a 43.43 percent increase year-on-year (y/y).

The number of passengers who took regular or charter flights in Georgia increased in all three main airports of the country: Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport, Batumi International Airport and Kutaisi David Aghmashenebeli International Airport.

More specifically, Tbilisi International Airport alone served 3,164,139 passengers last year, which was a 40.47 percent increase y/y, announced Georgian Civil Aviation Agency.

Batumi International Airport served 495,668 passengers in 2017 - a 58.69 percent increase, while Kutaisi International Airport served 405,173 passengers on regular or charter flights which was a 49.31 percent increase.

Georgia’s rural airports also saw an increase in passenger numbers last year.

Queen Tamar Airport in Mestia, Svaneti region, served 7,256 passengers, which was a 72.19 percent increase y/y.

Meanwhile, Ambrolauri airport in Georgia’s Racha region received passengers for the first time in 2017 and served 1, 723 passengers.
